ABOUT ME
Colleen Jennings
MLA, MEd
I was raised in a Navy family and spent half my childhood living overseas in Japan, Greece and Puerto Rico, attending U.S. public schools and DOD schools overseas. Between 2015 and 2019, I traveled to Germany, Switzerland, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece and Israel for internships and to conduct case studies
as a returning adult student.
I mostly homeschooled my five children starting in 1999, but we also used public, private, online and co-op programs. We used Susan Wise Bauer's "The Well-Trained Mind" as the foundation for our lessons, and I supplemented with library materials, museums, websites and various established curriculums.

As a homeschool mom, I spent over 20 years researching and applying best education practices for my own children, but have also participated in the Denver Math Fellows program, the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, and private online and in-person tutoring in math, English and academic writing. I have taught English as a Second Language since 2018 to children and adults online and in the classroom.

I have a master's in Political Science and another in Education Leadership/International Education. I have also taught Political Science and American Government at the community college to first year and concurrent high school students.
I have volunteered in many capacities, but especially in small group leadership, event planning, leading worship and kids' Sunday School in the church, and I coached T-ball & softball, did fundraising for Soccer without Borders and Prison Fellowship, and served with Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
as a caregiver and mentor mom. I have been a swim teacher for over 30 years.
